ASTROTRAIN [HENKEI]

Astrotrain has come a long way since its first debut in the Transformers G1 cartoon series. Among few of its counterparts Astrorain is a triple changer, allowing it to transform from robot to space shuttle to a train.

The US version of Astrotrain, marketed under the series of Transformers Universe (TFU) comes in white with shades of black and purple instead. In shuttle mode, the plane looks a little bulky with the head of the train attached to the sides of the plane. With the landing gears tucked down, the gun can be neatly packed under the plane.

Transformation from space shuttle to train is pretty straightforward. Contrary to the G1 Astrotrain, they have molded the train to look like a bullet train. From the image in case you’re wondering, the space shuttle cockpit is tucked in upside down at the rear of the train.

In robot mode, Astrotrain has 17 points of articulation. The arms and legs are bulky as you can see and they don’t really give you a lot of room for poseability. Like other Transformers Henkei toys, there are certain parts of the toy that have been coated with chrome. The chrome bits are on the chest plate, and the rear exhaust of the space shuttle.

Below are images of the reissued G1 Astrotrain, and the US Transformers Universe version.

Overall, if you’re a G1 fan i doubt you want to miss this.
