KM-01 KNIGHT MORPHER COMMANDER

Before purchasing this vintage train, I was very skeptical at the quality of this product. It was only after reading some online reviews that I made up my mind to get hold of this figure.

Being a third party product, they don't come cheap in the market. The other problem I faced was to hunt for this toy at a competitive price since it was becoming harder to get hold of.

The picture above shows the Knight Morpher Commander (KMC) taken out of the box but still in the blister pack.

KM-01 comes in the form of a vintage steam train from the Steel Age.

Rear of the carriage.

Taking the carriage apart.

Different angles of the carriage.

There are two types of connecting peg at the rear of the carriage. One is what you would call a male & the other a female socket to hook on to other robots. The recent launches of Knight Morpher Seekers show that the train can be used to drag the Seekers (Starscream, Thundercracker & Skywarp).

On the underside of the carriage, you can store another set of hands for KM Commander.

This is what the carriage looks like once opened up.

The first mode you'll get is a mobile assault station.

Then, the cannon barrel can be dismantled to form an array of weapon for KM Commander. We'll look at these in detail later on.

This is the front part of the train that transforms into the robot.

Do be very careful when transforming KM Commander. The plastic quality isn't as solid as your typical Hasbro toy. Certain joints around the body are quite tight so handle with extra care when moving them. This figure is quite light, however posing is not a problem.

Here's KM Commander on display with the assault platform.

The front chest of KM Commander opens up to reveal the Matrix of Leadership.

There is a headpiece that comes along with this kit. Among the three images above, the middle image is the right way to position the headpiece.

This is KM Commander with a shield & his his trusty blaster.

Remember the artillery cannon earlier? It breaks apart to form a jet pack for KM Commander. There is a 'J' shaped groove that fits nicely onto the back of the body.

Finally, the remaining portion of the cannon slides down to form a jousting blade. If you take a closer look, the tip of the blade is slightly bent. Hence, do be careful when inserting the blade back to form the artillery cannon. It's actually a very tight fit.

Overall for the price I paid, I have to say that I'm pleased with the quality & detail given to this figure. It was after this that I decided to pick up KM Cyclops which I have reviewed earlier back in March '13. I'll be looking forward for upcoming figures by Mastermind, especially the Seekers.

SEA ATTACK RAVAGE

When the first Ravage toy came out in the Revenge of The Fallen (ROTF) line, it didn't look too promising to me. Hence I just brushed picking this toy up. It was only when the third movie (Dark of The Moon) came out that I gave some thought to picking up Ravage.

The main reason was because Hasbro came out with movie Laserbeak. So I thought it would be cool to display the first movie's Soundwave along with Ravage & Laserbeak.

Here's the so called 'vehicle/re-entry mode' where we see Ravage in what looks like a rounded missile.

In beast mode, Sea Attack Ravage is very articulate. Ravage carries two missile launchers at the rear & the fins all over the body are actually quite soft for safety compliance. The edge of the tail can actually flip back to form a sharp stinger.

Here's taking a closer look at the jaw gimmick. There's a lever at the rear spine which you can pull, to move the head forward. At the same time this opens the jaw up.

Ravage actually stands very well on its rear hind legs alone, with the assistance of the tail to balance the weight. It's a pity Hasbro didn't make the rear missiles as projectiles. This will give the toy more play factor.

Finally, just a simple diorama of Soundwave launching Sea Attack Ravage back into earth.

FRODO BAGGINS

I dug up some old Games Workshop characters to take some pictures for my blog recently. By the looks of it, I'm sure you can tell this is a Hobbit. However the only two distinct features that tell this is actually Frodo Baggins is the sword & the left hand.

The name of the sword is known as "Sting", & the left hand shows Frodo reaching for his pocket to feel the Ring.

This figure was a little difficult to paint due to the size of it. Since I'm not an expert in either painting or air-brushing, I didn't really add any shade effects on the figure. If I remembered correctly, Frodo was my first figure that was metal based in comparison to my other LOTR miniatures that were made of plastic.
