WARRIROS OF MINAS TIRITH

Today we take a quick look at the Warriors of Minas Tirith. I have about 16 figures on hand that I have previously painted. Perhaps I did not paint in greater detail, but the figures mostly look like they come in plain silver armor.

Here we have the archers in various poses.

The spear men are an interesting lot. I had to keep my hands still when painting the detail of the tree design on the shields.

Some of the swordsmen come in two different shield designs. I'm not sure of their exact rankings but their armor plating are also different.

Overall, these are one of the easiest figures to paint in the whole Lord of The Rings line as they are mainly done with silver & black paint. From here, all I had to do was to put in the detail of skin color, brown weapon parts & a dash of blonde hair to do the job.

LEGOLAS

Today's  LoTR review is on the figure Legolas. This elf was one of the early batches of figures that I owned. Hence, the paint job probably wasn't up to par.
 

The ends of the arrows are painted white to be made to look like feathers. The fine linings are then outlined with gold ink.

Lastly, here's Legolas for size comparison standing next to Gimli.

SARUMAN THE WHITE

Behold, today's review on Saruman the White. Next to the figure is Gandalf the Grey as comparison.

A simple figure to paint, all I had to do was to mix some light brown & dirt to give the robe a light wash to make the figure look more realistic.

The hair is painted in white, with black primer to give it more depth. It was really fun to paint these figures back when I was still studying in university as I had plenty of time to paint the figures individually. As our lifestyles change & advance we start to run short of time to spend on the toys that we invest in.

HALDIR

Here's a quick look at today's LoTR miniature figure, Haldir.

The color of the robe & armor is a combination between gold & shades of yellow.

I believe I left the arrows black, which was the primer color that I applied on the figure before painting any color onto it.

There was one problem that I had with this figure. I wasn't too sure how to glue a thin thread onto the bow, making it a little more realistic. Nevertheless, a fine addition to my small collection of Elves.

ELVES OF THE LAST ALLIANCE

This set of elves consists of two types of elves, four with bows & the remaining with elven blades. The Elves of the Last Alliance are geared up in gold armor with navy blue robes.

ARAGORN

Good day friends. Today's short review will be on Aragorn, from the table top game Lord of The Rings.
 

The paint job that I applied on Aragorn was based on the first trilogy, Fellowship of The Ring. The boots & leather vest are painted in slightly different shades of brown. If memory serves me right, I left the sword unpainted on purpose to show the natural color of this metal miniature.

BOROMIR

A short post today, one of the few Games Workshop figures from the Lord of The Rings trilogy, we take a look at Boromir.

 

Boromir was one of the members of the Fellowship of the Ring. I've painted the tip of the horn with gold finish & I believe a better job can be done to bring out the carvings at the edge of the horn.

 

The huge shield is wielded at the back as Boromir holds on to his horn & blade. Overall, this figure wasn't too difficult to paint & the funny thing is that the easiest parts to paint were the silver & gold trimmings.

GANDALF THE GREY

Today we take a look at another Games Workshop miniature. Presenting to you Gandalf The Grey from the Lord of The Rings table top game.

It was quite easy to paint this figure. All I needed to do was to prepare different shades of white/grey to do the trick. According to the table top gaming rules, Gandalf can deal both magical attacks & close combat physical damage as he wields a sword.

FRODO BAGGINS

I dug up some old Games Workshop characters to take some pictures for my blog recently. By the looks of it, I'm sure you can tell this is a Hobbit. However the only two distinct features that tell this is actually Frodo Baggins is the sword & the left hand.

The name of the sword is known as "Sting", & the left hand shows Frodo reaching for his pocket to feel the Ring.

 

This figure was a little difficult to paint due to the size of it. Since I'm not an expert in either painting or air-brushing, I didn't really add any shade effects on the figure. If I remembered correctly, Frodo was my first figure that was metal based in comparison to my other LOTR miniatures that were made of plastic.

BALIN'S TOMB [GAMES WORKSHOP]

It's been some time since I last posted a Games Workshop review, hence today let's have a look at Balin's Tomb. This item actually came as part of the mailer gift from the DeAgostini magazine subscription of Lord of The Rings (LotR). The scene for this tomb is actually part of the first LotR movie trilogy titled The Fellowship of The Ring.

Unfortunately, I do not have the miniatures of Merry & Pippin to complete this diorama. Among other members of the fellowship that are here include Aragorn, Boromir, Legolas, Gandalf the Grey, Gimli, Frodo & Sam.

Here's taking a look at the tomb from different angles. The tomb is actually made of resin, so it's actually quite sturdy.

GIMLI

Let's look at something different for a change. Today will be my first review of my Games Workshop figurines. This metal miniature of Gimli is from Games Workshop's Lord of The Rings (LOTR) miniature table top gaming. It is from the Fellowship of The Ring (FOTR) series.

In Australia these toys were distributed with a magazine on a bi-weekly basis by DeAgostini. They were titled LOTR: Battle Games in Middle-earth. I purchased the first magazine which featured a couple of Moria goblins and got hooked on this series for 28 issues.
