WING GUNDAM ZERO CUSTOM

Since I'm very fond of angel wings, Wing Gundam Zero Custom from the Endless Waltz series has to be my favorite Gundam series to date. From the 1/144 scale right up to Perfect Grade Wing Gundam, let's have a look at something smaller today.

Similar to the larger counterparts of different scales such as 1/144 & 1/100, the wings on this SD version can also be brought forward to protect the body upon re-entry into earth, or to be used as a shield during battle.

Above are some images to show that although SD Gundams usually have limited articulation the flexibility of the wing makes up in giving this figure more life.

This kit also comes with a miniature version of of Wing Gundam's pilot Heero Yue.

The two weapons that come with this kit are the beam saber & twin buster rifles.

Just like in the cartoon, the shoulders of Wing Gundam can move forward in order to hold both buster rifles together.

Although there are no additional paint job or air brush applied onto this figure, I still enjoy putting this figure up on display in my cabinet.

GN-0000 00 GUNDAM

My, my, a Gundam that has four zeros for a mobile suit number that goes by the name of 00 Gundam, from the same series.

Being an Entry Grade kit, there isn't a lot of pieces for assembly. Thankfully they do provide some stickers to keep the figure looking more lively.

You'll see that Entry Grade kits only look good from the front. Most of these kits are hollow at the back. However I'm sure kit-bashers out there have a way of sealing the gaps at the back to make the model kits look better.

00 Gundam comes with the GN Sword II.

There isn't much you can do about articulation, but this kit serves well as a display unit among other 1/144 scaled Gundams.

MAN-08 (ELMETH) MOBILE ARMOR LALAH SUNE USE

Gundam was the first toy line that I started collecting during my early college days, before my interested in toys started to grow drastically.

However, one flaw that I have as compared to other collectors out that is that I may have very limited knowledge on the history of a particular toy when it comes to the cartoon or comic background.

Having said so, let's now take a look at Mobile Armor Elmeth.

This behemoth of a vehicle is supposed to be a Newtype mobile armor to be used in battle against Gundam mobile suits. Although this toy looks like a small soccer ball, there are numerous gimmicks that will keep you entertained, for a little while. To begin with, the two huge front cannons can be aligned & moved about.

At the rear of the vehicle, this behemoth actually comes with 7 missile-like weapons known as 'Bits'. There is a button at the top of the vehicle that you push to launch the Bits out.

The landing gears as you can see can be closed up.

In the cartoon, each of these Bits carrying a mega particle cannon can be remote controlled by the pilot. From the pictures above, I only have 6 Bits, there's actually another one somewhere among my other Gundam figures.

There is a transparent piece that comes with Elmeth. In case you're wondering what it does, for those of you that have a Char's Gelgoog it's for you to simulate one of the scenes in the cartoon where the battle damaged Gelgoog holds on to the rear end of Elmeth to retreat.

These are the extra parts that come along with this set to be replaced with Char's Gelgoog if you have one. In conclusion, this is a classic piece of Gundam figure you should own if you've been a fan of this series since the mid 80's.

GAT-X105 STRIKE GUNDAM

The Strike Gundam comes from the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED universe. What you're looking at is the Entry Grade version which basically means that the mecha has very few pieces required to assemble.

All I have done is to add silver linings onto the robot.

This kit also comes with two accessories, which are the beam rifle & sword.

From this view, you can see that articulation is very limited. It's a pity that I don't know much about air brushing. I'm sure there are fans and collectors out there that would do a good job in transforming this mold into something of similar, or much better appearance than the usual 1/144 scaled Strike Gundam.

GN-001 GUNDAM EXIA

Gundam Exia comes from the animated series Mobile Suit Gundam 00. In the anime series, this mecha was developed primarily for closed combat battles.

What you're seeing here is Gundam Exia from the Entry Grade kit. It is a basic 1/144 scaled mecha. I've attempted to add some color to this mecha by putting on marker ink.

The only weapon that this robot comes with is the GN long blade.

Articulation is very tight as the joints of the leg ar being obstructed by the hips. In terms of the arms, there is only one way movement.

I have stopped collecting Gundam from a couple of years as I no longer have the luxury of time in assembling these model kits. The other main point is that there's hardly any resale value for these plastic injection kits.

Here's a sample image that I found of how this figure would look like if you were to put your heart & effort into air brushing and painting it. One thing about me, I have zero knowledge in such works.
