BREAKDOWN

This is the Cyberverse version of Breakdown, which comes in the form of a mobile armored truck. To me, it's just a blue box with four wheels.

The Energon weapon can be attached onto either sides of the roof.

Being a Cyberverse class, transformation only takes a couple of steps. I'm not sure if the weapon is meant to be used this way, as there is a handle at the back of the weapon that makes it look like an Energon blade.

The weapon can also be attached to the arms. With limited articulation you can't really pose this Decepticon around.

SOUNDWAVE

This is one rare piece of Transformers from the Dark of The Moon (DOTM) series. It took me some time to hunt for it & but I was fortunate enough to have picked this toy up at one of the specialty stores. In the first & second Transformers movie, Soundwave was in the guise of a satellite. The third installment shows Soundwave battling alongside the other Decepticons on earth, in the form of a sleek Mercedes SLS AMG.

Close up view of the front and read.

Soundwave's Mechtech weapon looks like a giant bazooka with the tip looking like a face of a blow fish. Once you flip it backwards the weapon turns into a huge radar dish. At the roof of the Mercedes, there are slots on either sides for you to insert the weapon.

Initially, transformation wasn't easy because I had trouble slotting the shoulder in snugly. As you can see, this bot looks really bad-ass. There is no issue in terms of stability even though the gun looks heavy & over sized.

In robot mode, both shoulders have pegs for you to insert the blaster. That way Soundwave looks more like the G1 version.

There isn't much you can do about posing this bot but I still like it because of the details given. Since I'm starting to run out of space, it's best that I wrap this dude up & place him in the graveyard for safe keeping.

OPTIMUS PRIME (WAR FOR CYBERTRON) [KABAYA]

This War for Cybertron (WFC) Optimus Prime comes from Wave 5 of Kabaya's Transformers gum candy. The molds come in three colors; Blue, red & grey. There is also a sticker sheet for you to enhance the appearance of the toys.

Those of you who own a deluxe Transformers Generations WFC Optimus, can see that this figure is quite identical.

Unfortunately, you don't 'transfrorm' a Kabaya Transformers. Instead, there are parts which you have to detach & reassemble in order for you to transform the toy from vehicle to robot mode.

For a small robot like this, Optimus actually has quite good articulation. Just be careful when playing with it, the joints may come off. It's not a big deal, you can just attach it back.

A closer look at WFC Optimus.

Lastly, this set also comes with a transformable Tigerbreast. This Breastforce can be combined with Kabaya's Dezsaras (Deathsaurus), which will be reviewed at a later time.

TYGRA

Today let's take a look at Lion-O's brother. Here we can see that Tygra is all suited up in light armor.

Tygra comes with a hand blaster & his trusty whip. The gun can be kept on the side of his removable grey belt, while the whip is made out of soft plastic that bends around freely. Those days, in the 80's Tygra's whip has a couple of balls at the end of it while this new whip looks more like a reptile tongue.

Here's a closer look at Tygra's blaster. The figure is actually quite stable, which makes posing an ease.

Remember those days that Tygra would spin the whip around himself to be invisible from the sight of enemies? I wonder if he still does it in the new cartoon series.

SKYBURST WITH AERIALBOTS

It has been some time now since Takara/Hasbro came out with any combiner sets. This new range of toys, known as the Power Core Combiners fits that profile perfectly.

Let us first take a look at Skyburst. This bot comes in the form of a stealth jet.

Once transformed, Skyburst stands at about the height of a scout class, rather than a deluxe. This bot doesn't look as rigid as in the pictures as he can be posed about.

Here we see Skyburst & the Aerialbots. The four vehicles are actually drones & cannot transform into robots. The four drones are as follows:

  • Recon Plane Drone
  • Chopper Drone
  • Combat Helicopter Drone
  • Fighter Jet Drone
Here are the drones in detail:

1) Recon Plane Drone

Comes in the form of a recon jet, this drone carries a huge radar dish at the top of the jet. This drone can form either sides of the combiner torso. Not to mention the amount of firepower it carries.

2. Chopper Drone

This helicopter forms the other side of the torso.

3) Combat Helicopter Drone

The second helicopter is a combat helicopter with twin cannons at the front of the cockpit. This drone forms the leg of the combiner.

4) Fighter Jet Drone

The fourth & final drone is a fighter jet that also forms the leg.

The Aerialbots before combining.

Here is the final product of the combined Aerialbots.

The Aerialbots may look good, however the stability factor & articulation is horrible. The bot doesn't really stand with solid stabilitydue to the structure of the feet. The arms can only bend at the torse, and not the elbows.

This piece is something you may want to forego if you have not owned it yet.
